Pikmin 4 Voice Commands List (Oatchi, Switch 2)
Every Oatchi voice command Nintendo has confirmed for Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Edition: known phrases, nine-command total, mic hardware, and what is not announced yet.
How do Pikmin 4 voice commands work?
In Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy, you can issue voice commands to Oatchi using the built-in microphone on Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo describes this as an optional layer on top of normal controls—not a replacement for the entire command wheel.
Requirements as of 2026-11-03:
- Nintendo Switch 2 hardware
- Switch 2 Edition content (full bundle or upgrade pack on top of base Pikmin 4)
- Game language likely determines recognition language (Nintendo has not published a full language matrix yet)
Nintendo has not documented a toggle sequence, calibration screen, or TV-vs-handheld mic diagram in public materials we fetched. Plan to read the in-game controls page at launch.

How many commands are there?
Nintendo consistently states nine voice commands. That number appears on Nintendo’s eShop feature list, the September 2026 Nintendo Direct summary, and Nintendo-supplied product descriptions on retailers such as SimplyGames.
Everything beyond the count is partial. Treat any “complete list of nine” from fan wikis as unverified unless Nintendo or the in-game manual matches it after release.
Which phrases has Nintendo actually shown or quoted?
Spoken examples in the Pikmin Day Direct (English)
Nintendo’s Pikmin Day Direct (October 31, 2026) demonstrates Oatchi responding when the player says:
- “Oatchi, rush!” (transcript also renders the rush cue as “OG, rush” in auto-captions)
- “Go to work!”
Those are the only full phrases we can tie directly to Nintendo-hosted video as of this writing.
Quoted example in Nintendo product copy (EU)
Nintendo’s European product text—mirrored on authorized retailer pages—quotes “Good pup!” as an example line and notes you can praise Oatchi for doing a good job.
Actions Nintendo names without exact phrases
The same product descriptions say you can ask Oatchi to:
- Gather up Pikmin
- Transport treasures
- Receive praise (paired with the “Good pup!” example)
We list those as confirmed capabilities, not as confirmed exact voice lines, because Nintendo did not spell out every sentence you must say.

What should you not treat as official yet?
Community wikis and preview articles often fill the gap with extra verbs (“Jump,” “Dig,” “Follow”). Unless Nintendo repeats them in a primary source, do not memorize them for launch day. Controller actions Oatchi already performs are not proof that a spoken command exists.
We also are not listing cooldown bypass, recognition accuracy, or ambient noise handling—Nintendo has not published specs, and we will not invent them.
For upgrade context and whether mic play alone justifies the fee, see Is Switch 2 Edition worth it?. For non-voice Oatchi progression, see best Oatchi upgrades.

How will you use voice commands at launch?
Until Nintendo posts a manual page, this is the safe setup path based on confirmed requirements:
- Install Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy (or apply the upgrade pack to owned Pikmin 4) on Switch 2.
- Play on hardware with the built-in microphone available (Nintendo has not promoted a separate mic accessory for this feature).
- Use the English phrases Nintendo demonstrated if your game language is English; other languages will likely need equivalent phrases, but Nintendo has not published a table yet.
- Watch for an in-game prompt or controls menu entry on November 12, 2026—that is when we expect the first authoritative phrase list beyond marketing copy.
If you are learning Oatchi’s non-voice toolkit first, the Dandori Academy overview explains the new timed mode that ships alongside voice support.
